“I’m 4 months old? Say what?!?!”
Dang, they sure weren’t kidding when they say babies grow so fast. I can’t wait to see how much he weighs at his doctor’s appointment on Tuesday. We’re guessing he is at least 16 pounds. Our little chunky monkey. It’s all in his thighs…that kid has thighs as big as my arms from all the jumping he does in his Jumperoo
and from standing all the time (with our help of course).
If I haven’t said it before, the Jumperoo
is the best.thing.ever. He loves it so much…he’ll bounce back and forth, squealing and smiling, and his feet don’t even tough the ground yet! We had to put a box underneath with a rubber yoga mat for traction, but it works all the same.
We are thinking of asking the doctor about whether to start solids soon. We have been thinking we would wait until 6 months, since that’s pretty much what the “experts” say (AKA the interwebs), but we want to see what the real expert says. Brett will be making Trent’s baby food at home, so stay tuned for recipes and to see how it goes! We’re excited!
I’m looking forward to all the fun events in the upcoming months. Brett and I have been together for 10 years and our 6th wedding anniversary is this weekend, but we waited to have a child until I was finished with school. We wanted a baby long before we started trying, but knew that it would be best to wait so that I wouldn’t have to spend time at school instead of with our child. Throughout those years, we would think about and discuss how the holidays, gatherings, events, vacations, etc. would be with a child and now the time is here…and we want to make the most of it and enjoy every second. As much as I wanted to have a baby sooner than we did, I’m glad we waited…I’m finished with school, I have a fantastic job, and Brett is able to stay home with Trent, something we felt really strongly about.
It’s so fascinating to watch Trent as he learns new things each day. He figured out how to blow raspberries the other day and now does it non-stop. He also likes looking at his hands…and putting them in his mouth, along with everything else. We enjoy going to the park (even though I think he enjoys watching the other kids more than swinging with mommy, but since it’s good for him to be introduced to other kids, I won’t take it personal. Plus, I won’t lie…I like to swing, too!), going to the grocery store where he can sit high up in the cart and all the people tell him how cute he is, and singing and dancing together. He thinks the Addams Family theme song is silly and laughs with the biggest gummy smile ever.
Last weekend, Trent also got to wear another Firefighter outfit and take some photos with a fire truck. The fire truck was in front of Walmart for Fire Prevention week, where they were also giving out free hot dogs and soda.
Happy 4 months!

Lynn, Trent is SO cute!! I can’t believe it’s been 4 months since we had our babies! We had Everett’s 4 month appointment today and he was 15 lbs 6 oz and 26 inches long. I bet Trent is every bit of 16 pounds. I love his chunky thighs!!! For what it’s worth, our doctor told us we could start with a couple of spoons of baby food mixed with cereal and formula. Ps I love the tiger picture Brett posted!!
It’s crazy! I saw your photo of you feeding Everett cereal…how did he do?
He did pretty good. He only lasted for a couple of spoonfuls. He’s still trying to figure out the spoon and how to use his tongue to get the cereal to the back of his throat to swallow. Are y’all going to mess with the cereal at all or just BM and baby food?
That’s good. I bet it got messy! We were thinking just BM and homemade baby food, like fruits & veggies.
