Picture Keeper Review & Giveaway

I end up with a lot of photos and videos on my laptop from both Brett and my phone. I don’t necessarily need all of them for anything in particular, but I would never ever delete them. They are a chronicle of our lives.

Just recently, I was making a video on iMovie and up popped a message telling me I couldn’t add more to the video without clearing space. Dang. The end was near…

Apparently, after over a year of adding, adding, adding, the time had come that I was running out of space. I plugged in an external hard drive and began going through every single folder and moving over photos, video and any documents that I wanted to keep but didn’t need on the laptop. Since then, whenever I’m making a video or post and I think of an older photo I need to use, I have to find the external hard drive to plug in and then go through all the documents I transferred several months ago to find what I need. Every time I have to do that, I wonder if there’s a better way.

Enter the Picture Keeper.

Picture Keeper-1

Picture Keeper-2

Keep your pictures safe with this easy-to-use backup device. Just plug it in and it finds your pictures for you! It’s perfect for sharing and preserving your favourite memories

The Picture Keeper Difference

  • No software to install, wires to connect, passwords to remember, or monthly fees.
  • Use on multiple computers; both PC and Mac compatible.
  • Once one Picture Keeper fills, just use another and the second will continue where the first left off. Amazing!
  • Can backup videos too!
  • Works well with all photo organizing softwares like Kodak Easy Share, Picasa, etc.
  • Easily use with your digital photo frame, favorite print kiosk or keep in a fire proof safe.

Picture Keeper-3

Wow - this would have been much easier and more convenient! Even though I JUST cleaned my computer of all photos and video recently, I already had several folders of photos that I could back up.

Here is how I used the Picture Keeper.

The Picture Keeper can give you peace of mind by backing up your memory-filled, priceless photos and giving you an easy storage solution. As far as photographers go, it is so important to keep your client’s photos for a certain amount of time, which can lead to needing massive amounts of storage. Picture Keeper offers several product options, from PK4 to the PKPRO, depending on your storage needs. Unfortunately, the graph they provide on their website only goes up to the storage capacity of photos from a 12 megapixel camera…which is no where near Brett’s 22.3 megapixel camera, so you’ll have less storage space if you have a high megapixel camera, obviously.

PK4

Another great thing about the Picture Keeper is that if you fill up one Picture Keeper, you can insert another one and it will pick up where the last one left off! You can also keep using the same Picture Keeper and it will remember what has already been backed up and will only back up anything that has been added since the last backup.

I personally like this because it is a small USB that I can keep nearby for easy access. It’s portable, so I can put it in my bag or keep it near my laptop wherever it goes, as opposed to the external drive I was using. There’s no wires or separate software to worry about. I am really bad about backing up my stuff and the Picture Keeper will help me be better about it. I would never want to lose photos of my family. Or of Disney food. But mostly family. Mostly.

I was given this product in exchange for a review and giveaway. All opinions are my own and 100% honest.

A year gone by

It’s kind of mind-blowing looking back at how much Trent has grown over the past year. When you see someone every day, the changes are so subtle and often unnoticeable…but seeing it all at once just shows you how fast they grow.

Trents Growth-1

Trents Growth-2

It was becoming quite the task to get him to stay still and be happy long enough to get a photo (see month 10 of the tie sticker collage for an example of us giving up and just taking the photo anyway!). We’ll still be taking photos at various points throughout the year, and I even considered continuing the chair photos but without doing the chalk behind him, since that was the most time-consuming part of it. I am so glad we did this! Stay tuned for his 1st birthday party post and photos of some photos we took for his 1 year old shoot. :)

Mother’s Day

I know I’m a day early, but I also got my Mother’s Day gift from Trent and Brett a little early and just had to share.

Mothers Day Canvas

I came home from work the other day to these 3 canvas photos up on our bedroom wall. I love how each photo perfectly illustrates different aspects of his personality.

Mothers Day_

Brett took them while I was at work before we went on our trip. Those sneaky boys.

We’re happy the weather forecast improved for tomorrow. I swear, I don’t even know why I look at the weather forecast any more. I should just look the day before and that’s it. We will probably be going to the beach for a little while, then eat at Red Robin and do some shopping. I’m excited for Trent’s first trip to the beach!

These past 2 weeks since coming home from Disney World have been crazy busy…me at work and Brett with photography. We’re sloooowly working on the trip report and photos/videos, so hopefully we’ll be sharing those soon. We have another trip in June, as well his first birthday party, so fingers crossed we’ll have it all done by then!

I hope you enjoy your Mother’s Day!

Capture Your Memories with Help from Best Buy

With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day coming up, as well as special milestones like graduations, vacations and fun pool party birthdays, I know we’ll be making lots of memories that will lead to many frame-worthy photos. As a wife of a photographer, it’s times like these that I am grateful that I have someone there to capture all of our memories.

Sometimes I try to take photos using my smartphone, but I’ve been spoiled by him enough to know that my smartphone photos just won’t look anywhere near as good as the photos from his camera…which, coincidently, he purchased at Best Buy.

5D Mark III

Back when he was in the market to purchase his last camera, he searched all over to find the best deal. We always search around for the best deal, both online and in local stores. He found an amazing deal at Best Buy combined with a coupon and his Rewards Zone points. We’ve also purchased video cameras and other electronics at Best Buy in the past.

So the next time you are in the market for a new camera, head to Best Buy. They can help you never miss the important moments with a wide assortment of the latest cameras, including DSLR cameras, action camcorders, and compact cameras with long zoom, low light and wi-fi. Visit their Spring Memories page to see all their new options to capture your memories!

I also like knowing they have a low-price guarantee, so you can get the best deal. And if you’re like me, you have an existing camera that you don’t know what to do with once you upgrade. Bring it to Best Buy and trade it in for a Best Buy gift card! Problem solved.

Prefer to shop online? Bestbuy.com offers free shipping on all cameras! Sweet, right? Shipping is what stops me from buying almost everything online, so free shipping is my kinda deal.

And with many digital photo frames available, there’s no excuse not to display your photo memories. We have definitely been guilty of taking photos and letting them sit in the camera or computer, never to be shared. But now that we have Trent, we definitely make more of an effort to display our photos online and in our house. Click here for a coupon for an additional 25% off select digital photo frames at Bestbuy.com!

Insignia Digital Frame

And don’t forget to have fun and smile during all the upcoming events and holidays…that makes the best memories…and photos. :)

10 Months

Wow, only 1 more monthly update until he is 1 year old. Crazytown.

Trent 10 Months

I’m going to keep it short and sweet compared to last month. Here is a quick update on our little munchkin.

He is a crawling monster. Although he still army crawls plenty, he has been full-on crawling a lot of time…especially on the tile. He loves walking using his IKEA push cart and will make his way all the way over to it just so he can walk around. We also just got him a walker and he seems to be getting the hang of it!

Going out to eat is so much fun now. We bring some snacks for him and give him some of our food, depending on what we’re eating, and everyone around interacts with him and he just eats it up (the food AND the attention!). It’s crazy to think back to the days when he was just a few days/weeks old and going out was such an event.

His 6th tooth is coming in. He has the 4 center teeth and then the bottom left and top right.

Trent 10 Months-2

As you can probably tell from the photos, getting these monthly photos is becoming increasingly difficult. He came thisclose to jumping off the side of the chair several times and by the time we did the tie-sticker photo, he had had enough and wanted us to know it. So we said to hell with it - just take the photo and everyone will get a good laugh at the fact that not all of our photos come out the way we want.

Let’s hope we get better photos at Disney World!
