I’ll admit I was a little late to the Instagram game. I just joined a few months ago and am glad I did, as I think Facebook can be weird with sharing photos…you don’t always see what everyone shares, but on Instagram you can see all the photos they post!

I also love how many of the photos on Instagram are spur of the moment times when something cute/funny/awesome happens and you only have your phone nearby to capture it. Unfortunately, many of those photos often go unprinted or formally framed. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

I had a difficult time choosing which products to try, but I ultimately decided on two: The tiny books and square prints.

These tiny books are adorable!

The Tinybook needs little introduction, is there any cuter way to show off your pics than this? The photo quality is surprisingly great, and Tinybooks even magnet together or to your fridge. Each book has 24 photos and you get 3 books with each order. If you choose 24 Instagram photos, you’ll get 3 of the same book, choose 72 images for 3 unique books.

Since I didn’t have enough photos on my Instagram to get 3 separate books, I chose to get 3 of the same book and give two of them to family members. What a great little gift to a grandparent! They are also magnetized to keep them closed that allows them to be displayed on the refrigerator.

 

I also chose the square prints.

Our Square Prints are the perfect way to enjoy and share your Instagram photos. With two size options you can’t go wrong! We simply cannot decide which ones we like more, cute little Mini Squares, or bold full sized prints. Printed on quality paper with a matte finish, our squares have just the right amount of weight to them.

The square photos come in two sizes. I opted for the larger size, as I thought they would be perfect to finally complete a project on my to-do list…putting something on the walls next to our window in the living room! We already have art on one wall, a clock on another and display boxes on another, so we’ve been wanting to put up some sort of framed photo(s).

I selected 24 4×4 squares and they arrived in a neat little package.

When we were in WDW, we made a quick trip to IKEA (quick = 2 hours) and purchased 2 large frames.

All I used for the project in addition to the photos and frames was a glue stick and a pencil. I included tape in the photo, but I never used it.

The frames were already matted, so I picked out 9 squares for each photo, which would fit perfectly in the non-matted area. I lined them up how I was going to place them before actually glueing them in.

Using a pencil, I outlined where I would need to place the photos.

Then, I glued each photo onto the paper.

I put a bunch of glue on the outer square and then pressed the matting board down on top, making sure just the photos were visible and not any of the paper in the background.

I repeated the process with the other frame. I love them!

Those walls have been empty for almost 4 years and just after a few minutes of them being up there, I told Brett that it felt cozier in the room. Trent’s a fan too!

Wow - what a beautiful weekend we had outside. We didn’t do a whole lot this weekend, but we still had some fun and got to relax as well.

My view on my drive to work on Friday. The pink sky was so pretty. Of course, after the time change, I now have blazing, blinding sun in my eyes all down this road. :-/

I took Trent to the park and after he played on the playground for a little bit, we walked over to the baseball field since no one was there (a rarity) and he just ran around and around - I think he enjoyed having all that open space. He also waved…a lot. He likes to wave. But the freaky thing is that after he waved at me once, he kept waving to the sky. Probably aliens.

On Saturday, we went to my niece’s Pirate Princess Party. They had some pirate themed foods (like Peg Legs = corndogs on a stick) and a bouncy house that was a pirate ship. Of course, Trent was shy, but when all the kids went to hit the piñata, we seized the opportunity to play in the empty bounce house. Trent loved it!

Oh yeah, and we dressed up a little…Trent with his pirate bandana (from his Pirate costume last year - can’t believe the hat still fit) and his hook. Brett wore his Johnny Depp Captain Jack hat from Disney and I wore my bandana from my costume last year. We may have been the only adults that participated in the Pirate theme, but I didn’t mind one bit. Trent seemed to like it too. We are gonna be the coolest parents ever for a few years, and then we’ll be the most embarrassing parents ever.

He wasn’t too thrilled with our first attempt down the slide. Perhaps I shouldn’t have made him lay down to do it.

Everything’s better when mommy does it too.

There was also a plank to walk. I just love this…such concentration (including the Svenson trait: concentration tongue) and him holding his hook.

Trent got a tattoo at the tattoo station. He’s a real pirate now.

That night, we enjoyed some barbecue and buffalo chicken skewers while watching the FSU vs. Miami game (Go Noles!).

I used to not care so much about our University football team (I worked and went to school there too), but lately I’ve been getting more excited about it and have been watching the games. It’s probably because for the first time since I moved down here we are doing really well…so yes, I jumped on the bandwagon. I think it would be fun to take Trent to a game…not a crazy one like last night and maybe in a couple of years.

Someone also got into the chocolate chip bag (not naming names) after someone else opened the bag for him (not naming names…ok it was me).

Sunday was so nice, I opened most of the windows in the house and enjoyed the fresh air, which also prompted some cleaning spells around the house. Am I the only one that cleans on a nice day? Sheesh.

Sunday night was for catching up on some DVR and then the new episode of The Walking Dead…which is what I’ll feel like this week since it’s gonna be super crazy at work. Wish me luck!

I also wanted to show you something that we found at WDW when we were there the other week. We saw it at our resort’s shop and thought “Oh this would be nice for Halloween.” But when we went back to buy it, they were gone. So we asked a Cast Member and she said either Magic Kingdom, Pop Century or World of Disney would have some left. Since we were going to eat at T-Rex at Downtown Disney, we pit-stopped into World of Disney and they were gone there too. We asked the Information Desk and were told either Magic Kingdom or Pop Century. We weren’t about to deal with Magic Kingdom, as we were headed out of WDW at that point, so since I wanted a King Cupcake from Pop Century anyway, we went there. I waited in the car with Trent (he was sleeping) while Brett went inside. He returned a few minutes later with just the cupcake. Sad face. So we went online and not even the Disney Store had them…but Amazon did, and it was Prime shipping, so we got one. Funny how Amazon had so many available…I wonder if someone local came by and snatched them all up to make some money online. Either way, it arrived 2 days later and we think it’s just the cutest thing. What is it that we went through all that trouble for? A plastic Mickey pumpkin that glows different colors for trick-or-treating. #Disneynerds

This photo of HalloWishes was taken last Tuesday at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. HalloWishes is the fireworks show that is ONLY shown during night’s that the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Parties is held…a hard-ticket event.

I’ll include more details when I post our trip report, which will include a post dedicated to our night at MNSSP, but for now, let me just say that this photo serves as a reminder that things don’t always go as planned, the stars don’t always align, and you can’t control everything…but you can still have fun and get great photos.

Let me elaborate a little…when we first showed up to the party, it was PACKED and we ran from Main Street as fast as we could. Trent had already tantrumed his way out of his costume and was about to fall asleep anyway and right before the fireworks, it started to rain. Not like full on find shelter rain, but enough to mess with the camera. Brett tried to keep wiping the camera as often as he could, but you can still see the drops on the photo above.

But you know what?

I kind of like it.

Sure, you can find picture perfect fireworks photos out there, Brett has hundreds, but seeing those drops reminds me to just go with the flow and to even look forward to next year when it (hopefully) won’t rain and we can see them again! It even gives it a whimsical feel. That may be the Disney freak in me talking, but who cares.

If you like taking photos of fireworks or want to start, I highly suggest this neutral density filter (B+W 65-073102 77mm Neutral Density 0.9-8x Filter #103). It allows you to leave the shutter open longer, capturing all those vibrant colors and action!

Earlier this year, way before the government shutdown we currently have going on, the announcement was made that all remaining 2013 Blue Angels Air Shows were cancelled due to budget issues. All political debates aside, we were pretty disappointed to find that out, since we were looking forward to bringing Trent this year. We went to the show in Pensacola, FL in Fall 2011 and really enjoyed it. They have several different acts during the show, which is a few hours long, lots of food vendors, and several aircraft set up and open to explore. I was pregnant at the time and thought it would be so great to bring our child there as soon as they were old enough, especially if it was a boy (we didn’t know the sex yet at that point).

This week’s photo is of the Blue Angels during that show. They were the final act of the day and well worth the wait. It was amazing to see how close they could fly together and how perfectly timed everything was. You could tell plenty of practice went into it and they were phenomenal at what they do.

Last week, I shared a Facebook post from Canvas on Demand. They had grabbed today’s photo from Brett’s Pinterest page and asked people what they thought of it. It garnered over 2,454 likes, 400 shares and 75 comments. Crazytown.

So I guess that means people like it. Only 2-3 people commented that dressing people up like food is weird. If they think this is weird, then I’m guessing they weren’t fans of Lady Gaga in a meat dress.

So since it’s October, I figured I would share that photo as part of Photo Friday.

There is no shortage of baby in a pumpkin photos on Pinterest, so we took them as inspiration and tried to recreate it. Honestly, I was certain Trent was going to flip out. Who wouldn’t after being placed in a cold, slimy pumpkin? We even invited a friend over to torture her baby share in our joy.

To our surprise, they both were champs. Pros even. The pumpkin we bought was a little too big (or Trent was too small?), but we sat him inside and he immediately started trying to eat the edges. Yup, that would be our kid.

Here are some tips if you are planning on taking this photo:

-Leave their diaper on, so their bare booty isn’t directly touching the pumpkin.

-Use a blanket on the bottom to prop them up if needed.

-Scoop out as much insides as possible, so there aren’t any seeds or slimy strings left to freak them out.

-Don’t push it. Some babies will not like it. If that’s the case, take a few photos to capture the hilariousness and then call it a day.
