Halloween 2014

This Halloween was so exciting…we actually went trick-or-treating and Trent did so amazingly well. Anyone that knows him, knows how shy he has always been. Last year, we considered going trick-or-treating, to just a few houses, but he was just too shy and then we ended up being sick anyway, so we never went.

We thought this year was going to be the same way, especially since he threw a fit when we tried to get him to try on his costume a few weeks ago and we had to buy him a shirt that looked like a costume but didn’t feel like one.

But at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party the week before Halloween, he said “Trick-or-Treat” (for the first time) to every single cast member giving out candy. He loved it! He had his light-up Mickey bucket and was so happy when they would give him “can-y” to eat!

Aubrey was Snow White at MNSSHP…she had 3 different Halloween costumes…one for each event (MNSSHP, Halloween Party and Halloween night).

We started Halloween day watching Halloween cartoons.

First Halloween!

During the day, we painted some pumpkins and Brett carved a pumpkin. We set out some Crayola Washable Paint, paintbrushes and markers (we did something similar for Trent’s first Halloween in 2012).

We used some painting tape to stencil out a jack-o-lantern, a T, and an A on the 3 little pumpkins we had.

I showed Trent what to do and then let him paint away!

Of course, Brett has to be all dramatic with his pumpkin carving - this photo could be a poster for a horror movie.

He carved Mr. Oogie Boogie, which he did from memory…no stencil!

I love the peek-a-boo skeleton.

The family came over just before 6pm and we headed out to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. But not before getting a quick photo with Minnie and mini-hillbilly boy!

His first house just had a bucket set out, but he politely picked out one piece of candy and put it in his bucket.

This was his very first house to actually trick-or-treat at….just look at how excited he is!

He even waited in line…Disney World has trained him right! haha

I showed him that he had to say trick-or-treat and then hold his bucket up for people. From then on, he went up to most of the houses with just his cousins. I joined him for a few and was so proud that he had the routine down….he would say “trick-or-treat”, then “thank you” and “bye-bye”. Such a polite trick-or-treater

Everyone was so great…some neighbors even saw that he was a little behind the other kids at the houses they ran to and came out and met him at the end of their driveway, or had special candy for the little kids (like Smarties).

One house even had an amazing setup, complete with Haunted Mansion statues that sang Grim Grinning Ghosts, along with a haunted walk-through. I saw him outside working on it every day for weeks leading up to Halloween, it was nice to see the end result!

After trick-or-treating, we came back to the house, ordered pizza and played Just Dance. I already love holidays, but the more I see my kids enjoying them, the more I love them and look forward to the next.
