Well, now that baby #2 is on the way, I definitely feel the need to get better about completing Trent’s baby book, photo albums, and keepsake boxes (especially because he also just got his 1st haircut!). I’ve been kind of off-and-on when it comes to that stuff. When you’re married to a photographer, there’s a lot of photos…a lot…like an obscene amount. Many of you are in the process of keeping up a resolution or two…perhaps you’ve decided to work out more, eat better, or drink more water. I know I definitely need to drink more water…it’s not that I drink too much other stuff like coffee or soda, it’s just that I often forget to drink anything. At work, I’ll fill up my mason jar/cup in the morning and forget to drink it. After a while, the water tastes weird and unappetizing, so then sometimes I go dump it and refill it…sometimes I don’t.

Whoa - I had heard of vitamin water and such, but I never thought about the benefits of water with a different pH. We received several different sizes of Essentia.

At first, I started with a small bottle at work and Brett tried out a big bottle while editing photos one night. While there’s not much depth that we can go into on water, we both had the same thoughts:

1) It tastes like…water. Ok, before you laugh…what I mean is that there is no weird taste or aftertaste. Some water has a weird taste or aftertaste, but this didn’t have any taste except for pure, refreshing water.

2) After letting them sit for a few hours (I guess we both have the same problem), we both thought the water tasted the same as when we first opened it. Of course, it wasn’t as cold, but we could still drink it and did not have to toss it.

The next time we wanted water, we found ourselves reaching for an Essentia bottle before heading to the tap. I’ll be realistic and say we probably won’t completely replace our water source with Essentia, but it is a great option for when you need electrolytes and extra hydration without reaching for sugar and calorie-laden sports drinks. Ever since before Trent was born, every time I would shop for his clothes, I would debate on what look I wanted him to have….should he wear cute things with puppies? The cool things with dinosaurs and skulls? Or forgo all of those in favor of stylish items with no characters whatsoever and hope that he lands in Baby Vogue?

Well…hopefully the poor kid won’t have an identity crisis as he gets older, because I have gone with all of them. Clothes are meant to be fun…kids only wear them for a short time before they grow out of them anyway, so why not try different things? Besides, it’s the cutest thing when he likes what is on his shirt. He has a few shirts that have a flap he can lift up to see a character underneath and he thinks those are so much fun. And now he has a shirt that has chicks all over it…because he’s a little ladies’ man and he’s got chicks all over him. Get it? Hehe

We say “Where are the birdies?” and he looks down and points at his shirt and then keeps looking down while walking and we have to watch him so he doesn’t run into anything.

What a perfect shirt for a boy, don’t you think? I love it.

Of course, he has no idea what it says…he just knows there’s fun birds all over it, but us adults get a good chuckle.
