Kidorable Fireman Backpack

Several years ago, when my nephew was in the midst of his dinosaur obsession, he received the cutest dinosaur rain boots, rain jacket and umbrella. They were so cute. He flipped…instant love. And since it’s always raining in Florida, he got to wear them quite a bit.

Fast forward a few years and imagine my excitement when the lovely folks at Kidorable contacted me…the same company that made that adorable dinosaur rain gear that my nephew loved and wore for years!

Not only do they have the rain gear I mentioned above, they have a bunch of other themed items too, such as backpacks, gloves, hats and scarves. They have themed items for both boys and girls:

-Ballerina
-Butterfly
-Dinosaur
-Dora the Explorer
-Dragon Knight
-Fairy
-Fireman
-Frog
-Ladybug
-Lotus Flower
-Lucky Cat
-Mermaid
-Pirate
-Space Hero
-SpongeBob Squarepants

Since Trent already has some Fireman rain boots, we just had to have get him this awesome Fireman backpack!

As soon as we got it, he wanted to put it on (nevermind you that he has never worn a backpack before in his life, but yet he knew exactly what to do), then he paraded around the house. It’s so cute…I can’t handle it.

Backpack-3

It’s bright red, has a strap for it to be hung up, and has a large zippered center storage area, two pockets on the side and one pocket in the front. It also has a hanging fire hydrant trinket and the material allows any spills or stains to be easily wiped off…perfect for a toddler where spills and crumbs are an everyday occurrence.

Backpack-1

The straps are adjustable and shrink down to his size and can also be extended much further as he grows.

Backpack-2

This will be perfect for outings when we don’t take the stroller or for his eventual sleepovers at Nana’s house. He can put some toys and snacks in there and carry it all by himself. It would also be a cute backpack for school, preschool or day care. I can think of so many uses for it….the beach, trips to the park for a picnic, long walks/hikes, trips to friends’ houses, etc.

Backpack-4

He can even bring it to Disney World to carry all his necessities!

Nuby Octopus Bath Time Toss

Here’s another fun bath toy from Nuby…the Nuby Octopus Bath Time Toss!

Nuby Octopus-4

It doesn’t just have to be for the bath either, and with the warm weather approaching, it can also be used in a water table or kiddie pool!

The Octopus tentacles curl up and it comes with three shapes to throw onto the tentacles. It’s like practicing for a carnival game.

Nuby Octopus-3

The octopus and rings float, making it easier to grab them to keep playing. It’s a simple and colorful toy for fun bath time play.

Of course, bubbles make everything more fun too.

Latch Board Activity Toy for Kids {DIY}

I’m really excited to share this DIY project that Brett made for Trent. It’s an absolutely perfect toy for a boy, but also for any toddler to help them learn fine motor skills. He made it a few months ago and Trent plays with it every single day. There are so many different options for latches, doors, locks, handles, wheels, and of course…the must-have “boingy things” that you can make any variation you can think of. Brett got most of the supplies at Home Depot and added in some items we already had at home.

Kids Activity Latch Board

Latch Board Activity Toy for Kids

Here are the specific items on our latch board:

Kids Activity Board-8

1) Ikea Curtain Wire with Steel rings (You can get this from Amazon too)

2) Bolts and Washers

3) Toilet paper holder with painted PVC pipe

4) Spring Door Stop “Boingy Thing” (Amazon)

5) Bolt Latch

6) Tap lights

7) Spring Door Stop “Boingy Thing”

8) Swivel Caster wheel

9) Doors with Drawer pulls to hide stuff behind (we used vinyl monster decals - a mirror would also be fun)

10) Letter and Number combination locks

11) Flip up trunk handle

12) Fixed Caster Wheel

13) Door Chain Lock

For the board, he used a large piece of ¾ inch sanded plywood. To add the design, he spray-painted the entire board yellow and then he used painter’s tape to mark across the top and diagonal lines. He used a small piece of the painter’s tape to guide the spacing of each line.

Kids Activity Board-1

Once all the tape was in place (make sure it’s pressed down firmly so there isn’t any bleeding), he spray-painted the entire thing black.

Kids Activity Board-2

Once the black paint dried, he just peeled the painter’s tape to reveal the design.

For the mini doors (#9), he painted two square pieces of wood with spray paint…one red and one blue. Once those were dry, he attached the handles.

After all the paint was dry, it was time to start attaching all the items to the board!

But first, he laid the board down on the floor and created a layout of the items before actually fastening them to the board. This helped him plan out where everything was going to go.

Someone wanted to help too…see, perfect toy for a boy…both to play with AND put together!

So many fun things to play with!

Trent’s first birthday was monster-themed, so we had some of these vinyl monster decals.

He loves opening the doors to see them underneath.

He’ll be picking locks in no time lol

I tried to describe each item (oh who am I kidding, I had Brett write them out for me!), but if you have any questions, please ask!

My Baby Album with Sophie the Giraffe {Giveaway}

Well, now that baby #2 is on the way, I definitely feel the need to get better about completing Trent’s baby book, photo albums, and keepsake boxes (especially because he also just got his 1st haircut!). I’ve been kind of off-and-on when it comes to that stuff. When you’re married to a photographer, there’s a lot of photos…a lot…like an obscene amount. And it’s difficult to organize everything when they are on multiple devices. If I don’t get that stuff done now, life will just keep getting busier and busier…and isn’t it already busy enough? Sheesh!

I’m already ahead of myself when it comes to baby #2…in a way. Sure, I’ve been terrible about keeping track of dates and anything else so far, but I now have a baby book ready for when it’s time to start documenting our memories. And one lucky reader can win this very same baby book!

My Baby Album with Sophie la girafe is a baby book featuring a character you may have seen before…Sophie the giraffe is an extremely popular teether toy!

Baby Album-1

This book is so colorful and can be used for a boy or a girl. It has spots for photos and for writing with cute designs on every page. Boring baby book this is not!

Baby Album-3

What parent doesn’t want to record their baby’s start in life, rich as it is with once-in-a-lifetime moments and firsts of all kinds? Now My Baby Album with Sophie the Giraffe offers the perfect place for parents to capture every unforgettable moment and occasion.

This large-format album features Sophie, the wildly popular French toy giraffe who has taken America by storm and is already a part of so many babies’ lives, plus a colorful menagerie of her animal friends, and other modern illustrations (suitable for girls and boys). A hidden spiral binding, sturdy board covers, and a built-in elastic band will keep your treasures safe.

Sophie provides designated spaces to record all the milestones and details of baby’s life, including:

• family tree

• baby shower

• birth announcement

• first bath

• first haircut (with envelope for first lock of hair)

• eating habits

• nighttime habits

• first holiday

• first vacation

• first steps

• favorite activities

• family resemblances

• first words and amusing phrases

• second birthday

• and more

Readers can create 16 of their own themed pages inspired by their baby’s unique journey, making this a baby album just waiting to be personalized and sure to be cherished.

Nuby Clik-it Insulated No-Spill Cool Sipper {Review}

Right around the time I posted about the Nuby Clik-It No Spill Flex Straw cup, we also started giving Trent the Nuby Clik-it Insulated No-Spill Cool Sipper. He really loves the straw cups, but we also wanted to get him accustomed to the next step in the learning process…a sippy cup.

Nuby Sippy Cup-1

Nûby’s new Insulated Clik-it™ range of cups offers leak proof technology that you can see and hear so moms and dads won’t have to worry about spills and leaks! The No-Spill™ Insulated Cool Sipper™ keeps liquids fresh and cool and helps protect furniture from a “sweating” cup. Engineered to make feeding and handling easier. You will be delighted with the transition thanks to Nûby’s valveless, leak resistant design.

Nuby Sippy Cup-2

Just like the prior Clik-it cup, the lid on this cup clicks when you twist it so you know it’s closed and won’t leak. The unique design of the mouthpiece allows kids to drink the liquid inside, but it won’t leak otherwise. So when Trent throws it across the room, we don’t have to worry about the dark purple juice getting on the light beige carpet. And since he throws his cup many times throughout the day, this is a wonderful thing. It also comes in several different cute designs.

Nuby Sippy Cup-3

Since he was used to holding a straw cup, it took a few times for him to learn that he actually had to tilt the cup up in order to drink from it, but learned it quite easily. He is able to drink from a regular cup if we hold it, but on his own, we’ll be sticking to a no-spill cup for a little while longer!
