Nuby Octopus Bath Time Toss

Here’s another fun bath toy from Nuby…the Nuby Octopus Bath Time Toss!

Nuby Octopus-4

It doesn’t just have to be for the bath either, and with the warm weather approaching, it can also be used in a water table or kiddie pool!

The Octopus tentacles curl up and it comes with three shapes to throw onto the tentacles. It’s like practicing for a carnival game.

Nuby Octopus-3

The octopus and rings float, making it easier to grab them to keep playing. It’s a simple and colorful toy for fun bath time play.

Of course, bubbles make everything more fun too.

Netflix Stream Team & ROKU 3 #NetflixKids

Brett and I used to watch movies all.the.time. We only actually went to the movie theater every few months, but we watched movies at home at least every other night. Once Trent was born, and free time became a thing of the past, we slowed down drastically. We had no idea what new releases were out or what was a must-see. We halted all movie subscriptions and instead enjoyed our time with our new addition.

Fast forward a year and free time has slowly been reintroduced…but in a different way. We now enjoy shows and movies as a family. Trent is a nighttime party animal, so we’ll sometimes watch a family movie together, or Brett and I will watch shows/movies that we want to watch while Trent plays with his toys, or we play and watch together…it’s always something different. This is exactly why we love the idea of streaming movies…we just never know what a day/night will bring us, so if we decide we want to watch something, we can just look to see what’s available right then and there!

So imagine my excitement when I was contacted by Netflix to join their Stream Team! We’ve had Netflix in the past (both the DVD/Blu-ray rentals and streaming) and loved it. When I received my Stream Team package in the mail…well, let me tell you…I was blown away.

Netflix_ROKU 5

The package it arrived in looked so fancy and exclusive…black and red and tied up in a nice ribbon. And when I opened it, I noticed they wrapped it up all nice and even included my logo on a tag tied to it. They sure know how to create excitement. Although, it surely doesn’t take much from me…but even Brett thought it was awesome.

Netflix_ROKU 4

Inside was a ROKU 3 - an internet streaming device.

Netflix_ROKU 3

I had heard of a ROKU before, but didn’t know too much about it before now. Before when we would stream, we would stream through the Wii. The convenience was phenomenal seeing as we didn’t have a smart tv. Since Brett set the ROKU 3 up, I am in love and have seriously considered cancelling our satellite cable subscription.

Netflix_ROKU 2

It comes with a remote that can turn into a gaming controller (hence the wrist-strap) and a pair of headphones that plug right into the remote so you can sit anywhere in the room while watching tv/playing games without disturbing anyone. Amazeballs, I tell ya.

Netflix_ROKU 1 Netflix_ROKU

You can stream Netflix through it, as well as various other channels, programs, movies, games, etc. This came at such a perfect time because Trent is an expert at picking out shows he wants to watch. We like that he chooses shows/movies, as opposed to just mindlessly watching whatever rerun is on tv. I’m looking forward to having more options and even starting themed movie nights now that Trent can get in on the action.

So be on the lookout for future posts about how we use Netflix & ROKU to create family movie nights!

Nuby Clik-it Insulated No-Spill Cool Sipper {Review}

Right around the time I posted about the Nuby Clik-It No Spill Flex Straw cup, we also started giving Trent the Nuby Clik-it Insulated No-Spill Cool Sipper. He really loves the straw cups, but we also wanted to get him accustomed to the next step in the learning process…a sippy cup.

Nuby Sippy Cup-1

Nûby’s new Insulated Clik-it™ range of cups offers leak proof technology that you can see and hear so moms and dads won’t have to worry about spills and leaks! The No-Spill™ Insulated Cool Sipper™ keeps liquids fresh and cool and helps protect furniture from a “sweating” cup. Engineered to make feeding and handling easier. You will be delighted with the transition thanks to Nûby’s valveless, leak resistant design.

Nuby Sippy Cup-2

Just like the prior Clik-it cup, the lid on this cup clicks when you twist it so you know it’s closed and won’t leak. The unique design of the mouthpiece allows kids to drink the liquid inside, but it won’t leak otherwise. So when Trent throws it across the room, we don’t have to worry about the dark purple juice getting on the light beige carpet. And since he throws his cup many times throughout the day, this is a wonderful thing. It also comes in several different cute designs.

Nuby Sippy Cup-3

Since he was used to holding a straw cup, it took a few times for him to learn that he actually had to tilt the cup up in order to drink from it, but learned it quite easily. He is able to drink from a regular cup if we hold it, but on his own, we’ll be sticking to a no-spill cup for a little while longer!

Rag-a-Muffinz / Itty Bitty Clothing Co. {Review & Giveaway}

Ever since before Trent was born, every time I would shop for his clothes, I would debate on what look I wanted him to have….should he wear cute things with puppies? The cool things with dinosaurs and skulls? Or forgo all of those in favor of stylish items with no characters whatsoever and hope that he lands in Baby Vogue?

Well…hopefully the poor kid won’t have an identity crisis as he gets older, because I have gone with all of them. Clothes are meant to be fun…kids only wear them for a short time before they grow out of them anyway, so why not try different things? Besides, it’s the cutest thing when he likes what is on his shirt. He has a few shirts that have a flap he can lift up to see a character underneath and he thinks those are so much fun. And now he has a shirt that has chicks all over it…because he’s a little ladies’ man and he’s got chicks all over him. Get it? Hehe

Rag A Muffinz-3

We say “Where are the birdies?” and he looks down and points at his shirt and then keeps looking down while walking and we have to watch him so he doesn’t run into anything.

Rag A Muffinz-2

What a perfect shirt for a boy, don’t you think? I love it.

Rag A Muffinz-4

Of course, he has no idea what it says…he just knows there’s fun birds all over it, but us adults get a good chuckle.

Rag A Muffinz-1

Trent received this shirt from Shanda, the lovely owner of Rag-a-Muffinz…funky threads for pipsqueaks.

TogetherBox {Review}

As a working mom, I often struggle to come up with ideas of fun learning activities for Trent. Well, honestly, I’ve thought of many ideas, but I often fail when it comes to gathering everything that’s necessary to complete the activity. It’s nice when the activity involves items we already have at home, but it’s impossible to keep the house stocked like a mini Hobby Lobby. This is where TogetherBox helps solve that problem.

Together Box-1

TogetherBox was created to make family together time easy. When you sign up, everything you need to have hours of family fun will land on your doorstep every month. You’ll spend less time researching, stressing and gathering supplies and more time spending quality time with your family.

Each box will come with 3-4 carefully crafted activities, experiments and games around a surprise theme. All activities are designed to appeal to a large age group so your whole family can enjoy their time together.

Together Box-2

I love how the boxes have a theme. I think it’s very important to help teach children seasons and holidays, so TogetherBox will help create excitement over whatever relevant theme each box centers on. The theme of the box I received was Snow!

Together Box-3

There were several craft activities inside and every single item needed for each activity was in there…nothing to add, no store to travel to to pick up something. It was all there and ready for fun…perfect for my lazy, convenience-loving self!

I decided our first activity would be to make a sock snowman.

Together Box-4

All the items needed for each craft/activity are already in a separate bag…even the socks lol. The only thing I did have to use of my own was a pair of scissors.

Together Box-6

Mommy did all the scissor and glue steps, but we did mostly everything else together…including dressing the snowman.

Together Box-7

He looks like he wants to ask “Mom, what the heck is this?” in this next photo. :)

Together Box-8 Together Box-9 Together Box-10

Admiring our work.

Together Box-11

Of course, the other option is to let your child get creative in their own way with the items in the box. Trent loved the cups and straws and kept transferring the straws from one cup to another.

Together Box-5

TogetherBox is sent monthly and several plans are available starting at $24 a month. To find out more, go to their website or connect with them on Facebook.

How about an amazing offer and giveaway?! The nice folks at TogetherBox are offering you lovely readers 50% off your first box with the code photographerswife!

Even better…the first TWO people to sign up using the code photographerswife will get their first box completely FREE!
